Hortense Gordon (1886-1961)

Hortense Gordon was the oldest of the group and had occasionally painted abstracts as early as 1930. Her first one man show was in 1952 in New York. She exhibited her colorful abstracts  at the Provincetown Art Association from 1947 to 1957. A dedicated teacher in Hamilton Ontario for over 30 years. It was Ray Mead who introduced her to Painters Eleven.
